Jody Raffoul Has a 'Nice Day'

Published: 2006-03-02
Thanks to rockers Bon Jovi, Jody Raffoul isn't only having a "Nice Day" but a "Nice Gig" as well.

On the current leg of their North American tour, Bon Jovi held the "Have A Nice Gig" contest asking unsigned bands to send in songs for the opportunity to open for Bon Jovi when they rolled through town on their tour. 24 unsigned artists in 17 cities opened for the New Jersey rockers on their Have A Nice Day tour to promote the album of the same name.

Recently the numbers were whittled down to four bands and then finally the Jody Raffoul band was chosen as the winner of the contest. The band, who was an opener in Detroit will get to open for them again at Giants Stadium in New York on their as yet unannounced summer tour. They will also receive a demo recording contract.

In May, Bon Jovi will jet off to Europe for a few tour dates before returning with another leg of their tour and another contest. 27 new bands will be announced to compete in the sequel to the "Have a Nice Gig" contest.

On their last tour, Bon Jovi played two Canadian cities for a total of six shows, two in Montreal in December and four in Toronto in January, no word on whether they will come to Canada again this summer.
