LL Cool J goes back to 'Todd Smith' on new album

Published: 2006-02-15
LL Cool J's next album will be a self titled one, but he'll be going back to the name that his mother gave him and calling it Todd Smith.

James Todd Smith or LL Cool J is one of rap's pioneers and has been making music since the tender age of 16, in the eighties when the rap scene was just being established. Since then he's come out with smash singles like "Mama Said Knock You Out", "Loungin'" and "Hey Lover".

Though rap was his first venture it was far from his last LL has also begun a successful movie career appearing in a long list of features including In Too Deep, Any Given Sunday and his newest flick Last Holiday with fellow rapper turned actor Queen Latifah.

Todd Smith is the follow up to 2004's The Definition. The lead single off of LL's new album is the star studded "Control Myself" which is a duet with Jennifer Lopez, produced by Jermaine Dupris, and directed by Hype Williams.

But it isn't the only track on his record to receive the star treatment LL has also worked with Mary J. Blige, Ginuwine and Pharell Williams.

Tood Smith will be in stores March 21 and here's what you can hear on it:

"It's LL and Santana," featuring Juelz Santana
"Control Myself," featuring Jennifer Lopez and Jermaine Dupri
"Favorite Flavor," featuring Mary J. Blige
"Freeze," featuring Lyfe Jennings
"Best Dress," featuring Pharrell
