kd Lang Releases Rarities

Canadian singer song writer kd Lang is releasing a set of rare tunes from the early part of her career.

Reintarnation features rare songs that were released prior to Lang signing to a major record label including one previously unreleased track "Changed My Mind".

According to a press release the album is "named after a neologism defined by The Washington Post as "coming back to life as a hillbilly" focuses on the first decade of her recording career, when she broke ground as a singular kind of country singer who channeled the genre's canon while subverting a number of its conventions. The early Lang catalogue was dubbed "cowpunk" and arguably paved the way for artists who in more recent years have appropriated country music, garnering a mix of support and the suspicion of Nashville's Music Row, and reaching a much broader audience."

In the years following Lang's songwriting has grown and changed away from the country style and covering a broad range of musical styles over the past twenty years.

Earlier this month Lang paid tribute to fellow Canadian songwriter Leonard Cohen by singing "Hallelujah", at the gala celebration for Cohen's induction into the Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

You can pick up Reintarnation in stores on April 25.

Here are the songs you'll find on the record:

"Friday Dance Promenade"
"Hanky Panky"
