Published: 2006-02-13
If you haven't found a way to celebrate Black History Month yet, you might want to check out Umoja the Sprit of Togetherness, playing now till March 26th at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto.

This vibrant show full of African music and dance began in London in 2001 and has gone on to all corners of the globe, from Australia to Japan to Israel. According to the show's website, "Umoja celebrates the rhythms of Africa as they change from a tribal tempo to the famous songs that are the foundation of urban African culture."

If you're heading to the show soon you can take advantage of a special that offers Thursday noon show tickets for $25 if you quote Umoja25 when purchasing, or Friday to Sunday shows for $40 if you quote Umoja40 when purchasing.

If the high-energy show and a deal on tickets isn't enough to get you out, then you should know that portions of the show's proceeds go to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund Canada, which helps to improve the quality of life for youth in South America.
