At the Hard Rock Caf» in downtown Toronto, Chris Hamilton, Director of Marketing for Pepsi-Cola Canada, announced that "Diet Pepsi will be the title sponsor for INXS's upcoming Canadian tour". He added that "INXS is a first-class act and a perfect fit with the Diet Pepsi brand in Canada, especially with the emergence of new Canadian lead singer J.D. Fortune.
Soul Shine had a chance to ask J.D. what it is that he missed the most about his hometown to which he replied, "What I miss the most about Nova Scotia is the kitchen parties, the good beer, the good food, and my family."
J.D. also commented on how being a member of INXS has taught him "what it takes to start a song and follow it right through." When asked if he's changed since becoming the lead singer of an internationally successful rock band, he replied, "I haven't changed. What's changed is that I get 'it' now, this is it but I'm still the same guy I was in Nova Scotia, the same guy that was sleeping in my car, the same guy that had hit rock bottom." Well, he certainly has risen far above rock bottom and now he's doing what he does best and as he says, "I do what I do in a big way." When asked if he had any last words for his fans, friends and family back in Nova Scotia, he thought for a moment and said with exuberance "I'm coming home, baby!"
The tour will start in the east with events planned for Moncton, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Halifax concert is set for May 8, 2006 at the Metro Centre.
