Dip in Cat's Powers Forces Her to Cancel Tour

Published: 2006-02-08
Chan Marshall, a.k.a. Cat Power, has cancelled her North American tour, which was supposed to begin on February 11th.

Cat Power was scheduled to tour behind The Greatest, the new album she released in January. Her record label blames the cancellation on health problems that will remain private. "We can't give more detailed information," says Matador Records' website, "but we hope and assume that you'll respect her privacy during this time as well."

The minimalist singer-songwriter has been releasing records since 1995, but The Greatest has been her highest-selling disc so far.

Her eleven-date tour will be rescheduled, and information about refunds for tickets already purchased will become available soon.

Cat Power is still slated to play the Coachella Festival in April and the Bonnaroo Festival in June, however.
