Soul and R'n'B singer-songwriter Gene McFadden passed away on January 27th at his home in Philadelphia.

McFadden was best known for being a part of the R'n'B duo McFadden and Whitehead. When they were just teens Gene McFadden and John Whitehead formed a group called the Epsilons. It wasn't until 1977 that the pair was discovered by Otis Redding and formed McFadden and Whitehead.

The duo had their biggest hit with the 1979 tune "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now." Aside from their own music, they also wrote and produced music for Philadelphia International Records, working with likes of the O'Jays, the Jackson 5, and James Brown.

His musical partner, John Whitehead, was shot and killed in 2004.

McFadden, 56, died of cancer. He is survived by a wife and four children.
