Olivia Newton John Wins Aussie Award

Singer and actress Olivia Newton John received a lifetime achievement award at the G'Day LA: Australia Week gala in Los Angeles on January 14th.

Newton John was born in the UK but moved to Australia when she was 5 years old.

The 57-year-old rose to fame in the 70s with hits like "I Honestly Love You" and "Physical" as well as movie roles in the musicals Grease and Xanadu.

Joined by fellow Aussies Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana, and the rock group INXS (with its new Canadian front man JD Fortune), Newton John was presented with the award by Grease castmate John Travolta.

In the 90s the singer-actress defeated breast cancer and is now an active spokesperson for bringing research and awareness to the disease.
