Raising the Roof (and Money) for Texas Youth at the Houston Livestock Show

Published: 2006-01-11
If you think that cows and pigs are all there is to see at the Houston livestock show, you'll be missing out on a whole slew of musicians performing at the annual gathering.

The show, which features livestock and rodeo events, is actually a fundraiser for youth in Texas. "In the fall of 2004, 1,855 students were enrolled at 90 Texas colleges and universities on direct Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarships," the show's website reads.

From February 28th until March 19th, after the rodeo is over on each night, a different musical act will perform in Houston's Reliant Park. Though the festival is known as a huge event for country music, a variety of artists will be attending this year's show.

Here's what the schedule will look like:

February 28 - George Strait
March 1 - Trisha Yearwood
March 2 - Sheryl Crow
March 3 - Frankie Beverly, Raven
March 4 - Martina McBride
March 5 - Clay Walker
March 6 - Pat Earl Keen, Cross Canadian Ragweed
March 7 - John Fogerty
March 8 - Toby Keith
March 9 - Maroon 5
March 10 - Pat Green
March 11 - Lee Ann Womack
March 12 - Ramon Ayala, Jay Perez
March 13 - LeeAnn Rimes
March 14 - Cory Morrow
March 15 - Alan Jackson
March 16 - Hilary Duff
March 17 - Lonestar
