Mariah Carey Is Leader In Album Sales of 2005

Published: 2006-01-02
Mariah just received the icing on the cake, so to speak. Her album, Emancipation of Mimi, has become the top selling album of 2005. This was her big comeback year indeed with 4.866 million copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The album is in the running for Album of the Year as well for this year's Grammy Awards. Carey may also become the first female solo artist to top the year-end sales since Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill back in 1995. If that's not all, her single "We Belong Together", which spent 14 weeks at number one on top the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, and her number one single, "Don't Forget About Us" pushed the singer into second place behind the Beatles' all-time record of 20 number one hits. Congrats, Mariah!
