Pop singer Tom Jones can now call himself "Sir" in 2006.
On the last day of 2005 it was announced that Sir Jones would be knighted and join the ranks of such musical legends as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Mick Jagger and Sir Elton John.
Jones' powerful, unique voice made him a star and a heartthrob in the 1960's. He was known for such tunes as "What's New Pussycat?", "She's A Lady" and "It's not Unusual".
He was introduced to a whole new generation by being Carlton Banks' idol on the sitcom the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and making appearances in movies like Mars Attacks!.
Jones has been releasing records ever since his debut album Along Came Jones in 1965. His most recent, released in 2004, was a collaboration with pianist Jools Holland and was appropriately titled Tom Jones and Jools Holland.
