Rapper Foxy Brown Loses Hearing While Preparing New Album

Published: 2005-12-19
Rapper Foxy Brown held a press conference to talk about her recent hearing loss. A slew of guest celebrities were on hand to support the rapper through this difficult time including Russell Simmons, Tyson Beckford, and Doug E. Fresh. During the conference, which was held in the CBS Building in Manhattan, New York, Brown said that she hasn't heard anything for the past six months.

She experienced hearing loss during the recording of her new album, Black Roses. The teary eyed Brown said that she, while on stage, was unable to hear anything that was going on around her. She based her communication solely through reading lips, facial expressions, and notes. There was no source confirmed for the cause of her ailment, according to her doctor, Laura Arias. According to her doctor, she has lost hearing in both ears and is to begin surgery and treatment in January of 2006. Dr. Arias says that her outlook is good, though, as patients with the same condition have regained their hearing.

As for her new album, Foxy Brown says that she will continue recording it after the surgery and as soon as she gets her hearing back.

Foxy, life is all about adversity and opportunity. Despite your conditions show both men and women how to persevere, and that it's through God that all is possible. This is a lesson that will ground you and soon enough this too, you will surpass. Hold ya dreams and keep them to the sky Sis. One love ~Julie M.
