Mariah Carey and Kanye West Lead the Grammy Pack

It has been quite a year for Ms. Mariah Carey. She not only made the comeback of the year, but has earned eightócount them eight nominations---for the Grammy Awards. The nominees were announced this morning at New York's Gotham Hall. Kanye West and his protČgČ, John Legend, have earned the same amount tying with Carey for the most nominations this year.

Carey's Emancipation of Mimi will have to fend off Gwen Stefani, U2, Kanye West, and Paul McCartneyóall who are vying for the most coveted award of the night---Album of the Year. Stefani for her Love, Angel, Music, Baby, U2 for their How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, West's Late Registration and McCartney's Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.

Carey is also up for Record of the Year for "We Belong Together" where again she will meet Stefani ("Hollaback Girl") and West("Gold Digger") along with Green Day("Boulevard of Broken Dreams") and Gorillaz featuring De La Soul("Feel Good Inc.") for some healthy competition.

Carey pops up once again for the song of the year for "We Belong Together" along with U2 and R&B singer, John Legend. The Grammys will be held February 8, 2006 at Los Angeles' Staples Center and will air live on CBS.
