Cadence Weapon Debuts

Published: 2005-12-06
The Canadian prairies might not be the first place you'd look for innovative hip hop, but then you'd be missing out on Cadence Weapon.

Born Roland Pemberton, Cadence has slowly been making a name for himself on the hip hop scene. According to ChartAttack, "his electro-dance-influenced beats and production skills have been drawing comparisons to the Neptunes and Missy Elliott."

This year the nineteen-year-old has already released a 'mix tape' of tunes called Cadence Weapon is the Black Hand. But today his first real record, Breaking Kayfabe, will hit the shelves.

But don't think that he's an amateurˇhe's already written for music magazines like Pitchfork and Stylus and produced a remix of Lady Sovereign's tune "Blah Blah Blah," as well as opened for her on her Canadian tour dates.

Here are the tracks you can expect on Cadence Weapon's debut album:

´ Oliver Square
´ Sharks
´ Grim Fandango
´ Black Hand
´ 30 Seconds
´ Diamond Cutter
´ Holy Smoke
´ Fathom
´ Turning Your Sign
´ Lisa's Spider
´ Vicarious
´ Julie Will Jump the Broom
