Super Bowl to Welcome Rolling Stones at Halftime

Published: 2005-11-30
Yesterday the NFL announced that the Rolling Stones would be filling the coveted halftime spot at the Super Bowl.

The National Football League championship will be played on February 5th at Detroit's Ford Field. The Super Bowl is touted as having the largest television audience in the United States and will be broadcast on ABC.

Last year's Super Bowl drew 133 million American viewers and possibly as many as a billion around the globe. Last year's halftime performer was ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. Past performances have included Aerosmith, Shania Twain, Michael Jackson, and 2004's infamous "nipplegate" performance from Janet Jackson.

Following the Super Bowl performance and the rest of their North American tour, the Stones are touring in Europe, starting May 27th in Barcelona and ending August 29th in Cardiff.
