Madonna Dances Her Way On Top The Billboard Charts

Published: 2005-11-23
Confessions On A Dancefloor, Madonna's latest creation, not surprisingly, will debut at number one on next week's Billboard albums chart. She proved to the public and her critics that she can rebound from anythingóincluding the under appreciated American Life album, which sold a mere 240,000 copies worldwide. Confessions sold close to 35,000 in its first week, thanks to the radio friendly club anthem, "Hung Up".

Madonna's latest album prevented "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood from snatching the number one position. Underwood debuts at the number two position with her first effort titled, Some Hearts.

As for Mariah Carey, her Emancipation of MimióUltra Platinum Edition album helped to increase sales and her position to number four, just following last week's number one, which is Kenny Chesney. His disc falls to third with The Road and the Radio with sales up to 191,000.

The 20th edition of Now That's What I Call Music rounds off the top five records with 169,000 copies sold.
