One of the most influential guitar players of all time according to Rolling Stone has passed away.

Link Wray was 76 years old and passed away at his home in Copenhagen on November 5th with his wife and son present. "Link passed away in their armsÍ not ever aware that his heart was getting tired," his official website says. "This was the way he had told us, he wanted it." His funeral took place on November 18th at the Copenhagen Christian church.

Wray has been credited with the invention of the 'power chord,' a sound created by playing fifths, or two notes five away from each other, as well as the 'fuzz' sound by stabbing holes in his amp. His sound heavily influenced heavy metal and punk sounds.

He is best known for instrumental tunes like 1958's "Rumble" and 1959's "Rawhide." His songs have been featured in such films as Pulp Fiction, Desperado, and Independence Day.
