Outkast's Idlewild Scheduled for 2006 Release

Published: 2005-11-17
How do you follow up the massive critical and commercial success of a double CD? Easy. Star in and produce a movie and a soundtrack simultaneously. The hip hop duo, Outkast, plan to follow up their last double shot of Speakerboxx: The Love Below with Idlewild, a movie and soundtrack the duo are producing, starring, and recording together. Outkast planned to have the movie and soundtrack to complement each other by year's end. When you're dealing with Outkast though, perfection is everything. "We're trying to pick the single right now. It's all about a gut instinct," Big Boi said at the Vibe Awards.

The duo has reunited for this album soundtrack, as previously mentioned they have worked on separate albums for their last CD. This time around expect nothing but Outkast for the movie's soundtrack. Big Boi tells Billboard.com, "This is an OutKast album. It isn't like a soundtrack where we go get this person or that person."

Idlewild, scheduled to be released for year's end has been officially been bumped to early 2006. No word yet when the soundtrack will be released.
