Nellie McKay's 'Pretty Little Head'

Published: 2005-11-15
Critical darling Nellie McKay will be releasing her sophomore album, Pretty Little Head, in the very early part of the new year.

The sixteen-track album is the follow up to her 2003 disc, Get Away From Me. Her first album title was a play off of Norah Jones' successful, multi-Grammy-Award-winning Come Away With Me.

The new album boasts collaborations with 80s pop queen Cindi Lauper and Canadian singer-songwriter k.d. lang.

Along with her new CD on January 3rd, she will be releasing a DVD that was recorded in November 2004 called Live at the Independent. On the DVD, she performs two songs from Pretty Little Head: "GLADD" and "Columbia's Bleeding."

The twenty-one-year-old will also be doing a few shows before the new year comes upon us. She'll be at Los Angeles's Troubadour and Largo November 29th and 30th and then at New York's Makor and Mercury Lounge December 5th and 6th.

Here's what you can expect on her new album:

"Pink Chandelier"
"Big One"
"Beecharmer" featuring Cyndi Lauper
"Columbia's Bleeding"
"Real Life"
"we had it right" featuring k.d. lang
"I Will Be There"
"I Am Nothing"
"Long and Lazy River"
"Down Low"
"There You Are in Me"
"Happy Flower"
