Noel Gallagher Rips Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs

Noel Gallagher has lashed out at a number of young UK bands, namely Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs, labeling them "indie [crap]". The tirade took place during an interview with Australia's Triple J radio station, on the eve of Oasis' upcoming tour of Australia and Japan.

"Let's call it what it is," said Gallagher of the current crop of successful UK bands. "It's indie [crap], is what it is. None of them are trying to make it big. They're all trying to make it small or medium - that's it."

"Don't get me wrong," he continued, "I kinda like Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs (but) Bloc Party are just appalling. None of them strike me as trying to be in the biggest band in the world or the best band in the world - it's just indie rubbish."

In other words, Gallagher would like it much better if all the aforementioned bands sounded exactly like his own. Speaking of which, he did have kind words for Aussie band Jet, with whom Oasis recently toured.

"It was really, really great," said Gallagher of the two bands' recent North American tour. "We had some monumental gigs and some even more monumental nights in dressing rooms and nights out on the town - it was really, really good fun."

Oasis will begin a ten-date tour of Australia and Japan in Osaka on November 17, before returning home for a lengthy European tour that will take them into next year.
