Ozzy Osbourne To Perform For The Queen (And Other People)

Published: 2005-11-10
Question: If you were planning a concert for the Queen and you'd already booked Andrea Bocelli and The Blue Man Group, who would be your first choice as the perfect act to round off the event? If your answer was Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne then you, sir (or madam), may have a career in booking events for royalty.

Yes, Ozzy Osbourne and wife have been booked to appear at this year's Royal Variety Performance in Cardiff, Wales on November 21. To make room for the event on his calendar, Osbourne had to cancel an appearance at the slightly less prestigious Spike TV Video Game Awards being held in Los Angeles on November 18. What, he can't do both? That's three whole days in between!

Anyway, Ozzy will perform at the show while Sharon, it has been reported, will "also participate in the program," possibly by throwing tiny dogs into the audience. Bizarrely, this invitation marks something of a make-up date for Ozzy and the royals - Osbourne was asked to perform at last year's show but couldn't attend because of a scheduling conflict that did not, apparently, involve video game awards shows. "I cannot turn down this incredible honour twice," said Osbourne.

Ozzy's latest album, Under Cover was released on November 1. No word on whether the Queen has her copy yet.
