Bon Jovi Seek Local Opener For Montreal Gigs

Published: 2005-11-08
Montreal-area bands harbouring dreams of rocking the local hockey rink, take note: the benevolent boys in Bon Jovi have announced plans for a new contest giving unsigned local bands in select cities the chance to open for the platinum-selling veterans when they roll through town. The contest, dubbed "Have A Nice Gig", is sponsored by XM Satellite Radio and will coincide with the band's current North American arena tour. Montreal is the only Canadian city that has been selected for the competition.

Unsigned musicians living within 100 miles of select cities are eligible to enter the contest and can do so by filling out an application and uploading a song at the contest's website (located at XM judges will then decide on the winning band for each show, one of whom will also receive a demo deal with AEG Records and the chance to open a second show for Bon Jovi at Giants Stadium in New Jersey next summer.

Montreal bands will have two chances to win, given that there will be opening slots up for grabs at each of Bon Jovi's shows at the Bell Centre on December 14 and 15.

Bon Jovi are out on the road promoting their latest album, Have A Nice Day, and expect to remain on tour for the balance of 2006.

Bon Jovi's upcoming Canadian tour dates are:

December 14 & 15, Montreal, QC - Bell Centre
January 21, 23 & 24, Toronto, ON - Air Canada Centre
