Bayside Drummer Killed In Accident

Published: 2005-11-01
John "Beatz" Holohan, drummer for Long Island rock band Bayside, was killed early Monday morning (October 31) in a single vehicle crash near Cheyenne, WY. The band had played the previous night in Colorado and were en route to Magna, UT for a Halloween show when their van hit a patch of ice and flipped over on the highway.

Bass player Nick Ghanbarian and members of Bayside's crew were seriously injured in the crash and remain in hospital. Singer Anthony Raneri and guitarist Jack O'Shea suffered minor injuries and have already been discharged from hospital.

Bayside were touring as part of Victory Records' Never Sleep Again tour with labelmates Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein and Aiden. Last night's show in Utah was cancelled; plans for the rest of the tour remained unknown at press time.

Donations to a memorial fund set up for Holohan's family can be made by visiting Bayside's website at www.baysiderocks.com. John Holohan was 31 years old.

I only heard of Bayside in September 2005 and loved it as soon as I heard it. When I heard about the accident in October I was really shocked, and even though I didn't really know the band I was still sad to hear about it.

I wish you all the best.
