Ryan Adams To Release Yet Another Album In 2005

Published: 2005-10-31
Not content to release a paltry two albums this calendar year, Ryan Adams has announced a release date for his third 2005 full-length. Entitled 29, the album will be released on December 20, just in time to please those hard-to-buy-for Adams fanatics on your Christmas list.

In an interview with the Pitchfork website a few months ago, Adams explained the album's genesis and themes. "It has nine songs, and all the songs are nine minutes long, they're all story-songs. And it's basically just me and a piano, me and a guitar. It's really cerebral. The theme of it was that I wanted to write a record where I could write myself out of my twenties. So for each year of my life, in my twenties, I kind of assigned different parts of my character, I gave them names."

29 is the follow-up to Adams' two earlier releases this year, Cold Roses and September. Adams will appear on Late Night with David Letterman on November 28, performing "Come Pick Me Up" from the Elizabethtown soundtrack. Also, Adams has taped an episode of "Austin City Limits" with his band The Cardinals, to be aired January 21 on PBS.
