Stratford, Ontario's favourite sons, Frontier Index, have been having a fine time of things since releasing their self-titled debut on Rainbow Quartz Records this June. Since the album's release, the band has played shows with Two Minute Miracles, Sloan and Cuff The Duke, and have just wrapped up an East Coast tour with Canada's finest band, The Sadies.
Not only that, but the promising alt-country quartet have just received a coveted CASBY Award nomination in the somewhat wordy category of North By Northeast Favourite New Indie Release. The band faces some stiff competition, however, as recent releases by Boy, Protest The Hero, Cuff The Duke and The Ladies & Gentlemen are also in contention. CASBY stands for "Canadian Artists Selected By You", which means that you choose the winners. So, if you're an F.I. fan, head on over to the website of radio station and CASBY host The Edge and cast your vote for 'em here. (http://www.edge.ca/casbys/2005.cfm)
And, if you're in the southern/eastern Ontario area, be sure to catch the band when they open a few shows for Serena Ryder in early November.
