Toronto rockers Staggered Crossing are currently out on the road as part of a Western Canadian tour in support of their year-old Burgundy and Blue release. The album, released on the band's own Bent Penny label, is the second independent release for the quartet since the demise of their major label deal with Warner Music Canada.
That relationship, though brief, spawned the group's 2001 self-titled release and the bona fide hit single "Further Again". The band were soon cut loose by Warner, however, and 2002's indie follow-up was sardonically titled Last Summer When We Were Famous. It was produced by ex-Wilco member Jay Bennett, who knows a thing or two about getting unceremoniously dumped as the Wilco movie I Am Trying To Break Your Heart will attest. It seems the two formed a bond over their bad luck because Bennett now calls Bent Penny his Canadian home.
Anyhoo, as mentioned, the Staggered Crossing fellas are on the road as we speak and you, dear reader, can catch them at the following locales:
October 27, Calgary, AB - Morgan's On 17th
October 28 & 29, Grande Prairie, AB - BJ's Sports Lounge
