Rolling Stones Release Rarities

Published: 2005-10-27
In spite of the relatively disappointing sales of their newest album, A Bigger Bang, the Rolling Stones are releasing another on November 22nd, but this time they're sticking to their old material.

Rarities 1971 - 2003 will feature sixteen tracks, with live cuts of songs like "Tumbling Dice" and "Beast of Burden," remixes of tunes like "Miss You" and "Harlem Shuffle," and old b-sides.

Though the CD will be available at Starbucks, the aging rockers have avoided controversy by releasing it through traditional stores at the same time. In the past artists like Alanis Morissette and Bob Dylan have caused uproar by making their CDs available only at the coffee chain in their first weeks of sale.

The Stones also learned their lesson more personally when, after releasing their live DVD set, Four Licks, exclusively to Best Buy stores, traditional music stores like Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, and HMV pulled their Cds from shelves.

The Rolling Stones are currently on a North American tour.
