Sleater-Kinney Cancel European Tour Due To Illness

Published: 2005-10-26
Sub Pop trio Sleater-Kinney have had to cancel their upcoming tour of Europe due to illness. The tour, scheduled to begin November 8 in England and run 'til November 20 in Spain, has been called off while guitarist Carrie Brownstein undergoes tests for acute allergic reactions from which she has recently been suffering.

The severe reactions have necessitated a couple of trips to the emergency room of late and doctors advised that the group stay home for the time being. "Carrie's doctor has advised that she not travel/tour for prolonged periods of time until the condition stabilizes and further tests are conducted," read a statement from the group. "The band apologizes to all the people that this cancellation affects."

European fans need not fret, however, as the group hopes to make up the cancelled dates in May when they will be in the UK to perform (and curate) at the prestigious All Tomorrow's Parties festival. Sleater-Kinney's first album for Sub Pop, The Woods was released in May.
