Hedley Take New Album Out On The Road

Published: 2005-10-25
Punk-pop upstarts Hedley have so far ridden singer Jacob Hoggard's Canadian Idol infamy to a record deal, a couple of hit singles ("On My Own" and "Villain") and teen idol status across the land.

Now, they can add a national arena tour with Simple Plan to the list. The Vancouver quartet will join the SP boys on their upcoming cross-Canada trip, starting November 22 in Victoria at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre and ending December 17 way over on the other coast in Halifax.

Hoggard tried out for the 2004 edition of Canadian Idol on a dare and ended up in the finals, eventually placing third behind eventual winner Kalan Porter. Hoggard may have gone on to win the contest had he not asked his own fans not to vote for him in a vain attempt to retain some sort of indie cred.

Hoggard and co., however, are anything but indie these days -- Hedley's self-titled debut went gold in Canada just three weeks after its September release.

November 22, Victoria, BC - Save On Foods Memorial Centre
November 23, Vancouver, BC - GM Place

Hedley? Indie? Yeah right. Sellout is more like it. Hedley are like the poor man's Simple Plan so this tour is very ironic.

Indie? Since when is Universal Records considered Indie. Jacob sold out his old band members at the request of record company. Is that how Indie decisions are made? Jacob lost CI not because he asked his fans to vote him off, because he was never close enough to the front runner, Kalan Porter. I do not believe he had teh fanbase to win CI. Jacob tries to separate himself from CI and blasts CI and its winner every chance he gets. He doesn't even understand that he would not be in the position he is without the promotion he received from CI. I think he is a sore loser!

Come on, even if Jacob's fans had continued to vote for him all the way through Canadian Idol, Kalan still would have won by far.

Jacob's continual assinine comments about Cdn Idol speak more about his character, or lack thereof, than anything else. Someone who'd diss the show that gave him his break, insult the winner who thought he was a friend, ditch the band and old friends that gave him so much support, reveals his inner self in a very unflattering way. And his very disappointing cd sales to date (even 2nd place Theresa Sokyrka's independently produced and marketed cd has sold more than Jacob) show that the public isn't buying the pissiness he's selling.

a vain attempt to retain some sort of indie cred? what are you talking about? Jacob Hoggard asked his fans not to vote for him because he wanted to play with his band Hedley and not solo. and what's this about him dissing CI? Maybe he jokes around cause that's who he is but he has also said that he realises that he owes a lot of the credit for the sudden fame of the band to the show so dont make him sound like some spoiled kid who takes everyone and everything for advantage.

I think Jacob rox! I don't care where he's been. That's in the past and all his fans are trying to forget it as much as he is. We're looking into the future. Which is bright for Hedley if you ask me!

I agree with that last comment. He doesn't diss CI! Where have you been? He simply says that what's done is done and that he wants to place himself away from that because that's not what he wants to be doing. So whoever posted that last comment about him only joking around ans such...U ROK! Thanks for sticking up for Hedley and their fans!
