Phish Celebrates New Yearís Ten Years Late

Published: 2005-10-21
One of Phish's most memorable shows is coming out as a live CD ten years after it was recorded.

Phish's 1995 New Year's show (to ring in 1996) in New York City's Madison Square Garden will soon be released. The three-and-a-half-hour performance showcases the band's love for extended jams and musical improvisation. Tunes like "Runaway Jim" and "Mike's Song" last 15 and 20 minutes long.

The band, which gained popularity through its live shows, has chosen to put this 27-song set onto three CDs for release on December 20th.

Here's how they break down:

Disc one:
"Punch You in the Eye"
"The Sloth"
"The Squirming Coil"
"Colonel Forbin's Ascent"
"Fly Famous Mockingbird"
"Fly Famous Mockingbird"
"Chalk Dust Torture"

Disc two:
Audience Chess Move
"The Lizards"
"Axilla (Part II)"
"Runaway Jim"
"Strange Design"
"Hello My Baby"
"Mike's Song"

Disc three:
"Phish Gamehendge Time Phactory"
"Auld Lang Syne"
"Weekapaug Groove"
"Sea and Sand"
"You Enjoy Myself"
"Johnny B. Goode"

If you prefer live concert DVDs, Phish is coming out with one of those too, but it will be their show from June 17th, 2004 at Brooklyn's Keyspan Park. It will be released sometime next year.
