A Different 'Taste of Christmas'

Published: 2005-10-20
Now that Thanksgiving has passed in Canada, retail outlets are beginning to twinkle with holly and lights. Soon the air will fill with Christmas tunes. But if you're not into the holiday classics or are just sick of hearing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," then you may be interested in a Taste of Christmas.

A compilation CD that comes out October 25th will feature bands like Funeral For a Friend, the Used, and Skindred. Some of the bands featured on the compilation were also featured on this summer's Warped Tour.

All but one of the 18 tunes on this compilation were written especially for the CD. The exception is the tune "Happy Christmas," originally recorded by John Lennon. The Used's Bert McCarken and the Street Drum Corps recorded the song to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of the singer, songwriter and ex-Beatle's death. A music video was also shot for the song, which chartattack.com calls "a visual Christmas card for the soldiers who are separated from their families."

Here's what else you can hear on the CD:

"Happy Christmas" ˇ Street Drum Corp with Bert McCracken (The Used)
"Miracle Of Christmas" ˇ Funeral For a Friend
"Jungle Bells" ˇ Skindred
"Alone The Holiday" ˇ The Used
"Last Christmas" ˇ Roses Are Red
"Coventry Carol" ˇ The Smashup
"Christmas Evil" ˇ Opiate for the Masses
"We Three Kings" ˇ Amped
"The Last Christmas" ˇ Emery
"The First Noel" ˇ My American Heart
"We Might Be Alone" ˇ Like Yesterday
"No Smiles On Christmas" ˇ Bleed the Dream
"Blue And Cold" ˇ Versus the World
"Christmas Song" ˇ Bedlight for Blue Eyes
"Saint Nicholas" ˇ Gatsby's American Dream
"Christmasmassacre" ˇ From First to Last
"Homeless For Christmas" ˇ Black Halos
"Season Of A Lifetime" ˇ Plain White T's
