Merle Haggard Heads Back Out On The Road

Published: 2005-10-19
The legendary Merle Haggard will be hitting the road this winter in support of his newest album, Chicago Wind. The grizzled country music veteran will begin the tour this week in Milwaukee and roll on until the end of November, where he'll wrap the first leg up with a show opening for The Rolling Stones in Dallas. Then, he'll be back at it come February, with one Canadian date announced so far.

The follow up to 2004's Unforgettable, an album made up largely of standards, Chicago Wind finds Haggard in a feistier frame of mind this time around, as evidenced by politically themed tracks like "Rebuild America First" and "Where's All The Freedom?"

Haggard will be backed on all upcoming dates by his longtime band, The Strangers. And, though Haggard's next trip to Canada is a long ways off still, here's the info anyway:

February 11, 2006, Vancouver, BC - GM Place
