RIP Songwriter Baker Knight

Songwriter Baker Knight died October 12th in his home in Birmingham, Alabama, of natural causes. He was 72 years old.

Working mainly during the period from the 1950s to the 1970s, Knight wrote about 1000 songs. His most popular include the tunes "That Old Time Feelin'," sung by Dean Martin, and "The Wonder of You," a song for the King of rock 'n' roll. He also wrote for legends like Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Though best known for his songwriting, Knight also spent some time on the stage in the 50s with his band Baker Knight and the Knightmares.

Due to health problems Knight stopped songwriting in 1985. Two children, a daughter and a son, survive him.
