Tommy Lee Gets Burned During Motley Crue Show

Published: 2005-10-14
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee got too close to a pyrotechnics display at the band's tour stop in Caspar, WY Wednesday night, sending him to the hospital with burns to his arm and face. Lee was suspended 30 feet in the air when the pyrotechnic explosion went off. Despite the burns, however, Lee managed to perform one more song before leaving the stage.

The incident came near the end of Motley Crue's set and the band chose to get Lee to a nearby hospital rather than attempt an encore. "He didn't look good while the paramedics were treating him backstage," said singer Vince Neil, "so we chose to err on the side of caution and send him to the hospital." Err on the side of caution? When was the last time a member of Motley Crue uttered those words? Have they even read their own book?

Luckily, the burns turned out to be minor and Lee is expected to make a full recovery. The band plans to make no cancellations on its current US tour, which will include performing opening duties for The Rolling Stones in Seattle and Portland at the end of the month.
