Vans Warped Tour, Habitat For Humanity Team Up To Help Hurricane Katrina Victims

Published: 2005-10-05
In an extremely classy gesture, the good people at the Vans Warped Tour donated US $300,000 last week to Habitat For Humanity, a donation that will pay directly for the building of five new houses for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Not only that, but various performers from the tour got together and built a pre-fabricated home, which was then shipped to Louisiana to be given to a needy family. And, Warped organizers have announced that next summer the tour will stop in areas ravaged by Katrina in order to help with the laborious process of rebuilding homes in the area. Warped will also donate 50 cents from each ticket sold for the 2006 summer tour to Hurricane Katrina charities.

Fans are encouraged to visit the official tour website at for information and links on how to help out in Hurricane Katrina relief.

Warped Tour will also be holding a benefit concert for victims of Hurricane Katrina on October 8 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA. Scheduled performers include The Used, Pennywise, Rise Against and Hoobastank. Organizers are hoping the concert will raise an additional US $400,000.
