Damian Marley Releases New Album, Hits The Road

Published: 2005-10-03
Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, the youngest son of the late reggae legend Bob Marley, is set to hit the road in support of his recently released third album, Welcome To Jamrock. Promotion for the album in North America will begin with a bang in mid-October, when Marley will open nine shows for U2 on their current trip 'round the continent. Marley will also fit in a show with Kanye West in Buffalo before beginning his own headlining tour, which will run from mid-November into December.

Welcome To Jamrock, the follow up to 2001's Halfway Tree, features guest appearances by rapper Nas, reggae star Eek-a-Mouse and Marley's older brother, Stephen. Said Marley of the eclectic nature of the album in a press release, "it's like going to war. Sometimes you have to wear camouflage to really get in there. Dancehall, R&B, hip-hop÷it's more about feelings. We're not just trying to do a segment of the mix. We're trying to do the whole mix."

Damian Marley's Canadian tour dates are:

November 19, Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
November 28, Toronto, ON - The Guvernment
