Mike Shinoda, rapper from hard rock band Linking Park, will soon release a solo project with the help of hip hop veteran Jay-Z.

Shinoda's side-project, entitled The Rising Tied will be released on November 21st through Linkin Park's own Machine Shop label.

The album will feature collaborations with some big names in hip hop, such as The Roots' Black Thought, Common, John Legend, and Linkin Park's DJ Joe Hahn.

On October 4th two tracks from the album, "Remember the Name" and "Petrified", will become available through digital downloads.

According to Shinoda, the side project is an attempt to return to hip hop's roots.

"The record is all about getting back to basics in hip-hop, both sonically and for me personally," he said in an interview with Billboard.

A new Linkin Park album is also expected to hit stores sometime in the spring of 2006.
