Songwriter Joel Hirschhorn passed away recently in Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA. He was sixty seven years old and died of a heart attack.

Though his name may not sound familiar, his songs will certainly ring a bell.

Both an Academy Award and Tony Award winner Hirschhorn and his songwriting partner, Al Kasha, have written many a tune. "The Morning After" from The Poseidon Adventure and "We May Never Love Like This Again" from The Towering Inferno were unforgettable anthems and Academy Award winners penned by the songwriting duo. Copperfield (1981) and 1983's revival of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers were Tony award winners for the pair.

All in all, Hirschhorn's songs have sold over 90 million copies, have been heard in many motion pictures, and have been sung by artists as huge as Elvis Presley.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Carter Hirschhorn, her two sons, and a grandson.
