Hamilton's the Marble Index has begun recording the follow-up to 2004's self-titled major label debut. According to the trio's website, Brad Germain, Adam Knickle, and Ryan Tweedle are currently in the studio with UK producer Scott Shields, best known for his work with the late Joe Strummer. Shields apparently has a thing for Canuck rock bands, having just finished work with Kitchener's MapleMusic recording artists the Miniatures.
Promotion for The Marble Index, however, has not yet finished. The boys, no strangers to the road, are off to Germany this week to perform at Berlin's influential Popkomm Festival, which Germany's Radio 1 station will broadcast live across the country. The band will follow the Popkomm show with a couple of gigs in the UK before returning home for a September-October Ontario tour. As if that weren't enough, the Index will cap a busy year with its first trip to Japan for a show at Tokyo's Astro Hall in October.
