Former Local Rabbit and current indie-rock heartthrob Peter Elkas will embark upon a short tour this fall, taking in a few Ontario towns as well as one rather large Quebec city along the way (though it's not Quebec City, funnily enough). (Which really isn't that funny now that I think about it). The singer/songwriter is still out spreading the word for his debut solo full-length, Party Of One, available on the MapleMusic label, and an excellent debut it is.
After touring out West this summer with K-OS, Elkas has reportedly been busy in the studio with producer, pal and former Thrush Hermit bassist Ian McGettigan, recording some demos for an as-yet untitled second album.
More finely crafted gems and piquant turns of phrase are surely in order for the next record with, as Elkas himself relating so on his website blog, "some lovey things" about his new lady friend, whomever the lucky lass might be.
'But wait', you say, 'solo singer/songwriters are not my bag, these shows are not for me'. First of all, what's your damage? No one says 'not my bag' any more. Furthermore, the man will be carrying a full band with him this time around, so singer/songwriter aversion is no excuse. Not that it ever would be.
Expect rock and pathos in equal measure at the following gigs:
September 28, Guelph, ON - e-Bar
September 30, North Bay, ON - Wylder's
October 1 or October 2, Montreal, QC - Pop Montreal (details to be confirmed)
October 8, Ottawa, ON - Zaphod's
October 29, Waterloo, ON - Starlight
