Winnipeg mod-pop merchants Novillero are heading to New York City in a couple of weeks to play this year's CMJ Festival and have decided to play a ton of Ontario dates along the way. With this year's Aim Right for the Holes in Their Lives a critical success, the fellas (including ex-Duotang frontman Rod Slaughter on keys and vocals, Sean Stephens on guitars, Grant Johnson on bass and vocals, and Dave Berthiaume on drums and vocals) have been on the road plenty, crossing the country twice this year to date.
CMJ will find the band performing at the Mint Records showcase at CB's Gallery (presuming it's still open) with Immaculate Machine and Young & Sexy, and will be a nice follow-up to Novillero's appearance at the equally prestigious SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, earlier this year.
The Ontario end of the tour features some high-profile gigs, including an opening spot for Sam Roberts in Ottawa and a hipster-heavy gig at the Drake in Toronto with Tangiers and the Two Koreas.
