Those of us who have been listening to The Score since 1998 are finally in for some new material from our favourite hip-hop and reggae band. After a nine year wait the Fugees will be releasing single "Take It Easy" in the next couple of weeks.
"Everybody that's been holding their breath should start letting their breath go," band member Wyclef Jean recently told Rolling Stone magazine.
Wyclef and his fellow Fugees Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel never officially broke up, but all went their separate ways with solo ventures. Wyclef has released five albums since the Fugees went on hiatus, turning out hit singles like "Gone Till November" and "911." He also produced music for everyone from Destiny's Child to the Black Eyed Peas. Fugees front-woman Lauryn Hill released a successful, Grammy winning album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and Pras had a hit single with "Ghetto Superstar."
The trio has performed together on a few occasions since splitting up, including a surprise performance at Dave Chapelle's Block Party.
A new album, which the Fugees are still recording, is said to go back to their old-school beginnings, sounding much like the group's first album, Blunted on Reality. The project has neither a release date nor a title yet.
