Heavy Blinkers Work on Their 'Health'

Published: 2005-09-01
Halifax sextet the Heavy Blinkers are joining the ambitious ranks of Pink Floyd, System of a Down, and Ryan Adams to record and release a double album. The project is to be titled Health, although the release date is less certain. Whenever it may hit shelves, Health will be the fifth album for the orchestral indie pop band.

Fans of the information age that they are, the Heavy Blinkers have set up a blog for fans to keep track of the progress of Health. So far singer-songwriter Jason MacIssac has made five entries, which point to the direction and sound that can be expected from the new effort.

Among other things, fans can expect a song called "I Should Be Sleeping" that miraculously enough "sounds like a cross between Cole Porter and the Pogues." Other possible Health tracks include "Silence Your Drum," "Indiana's Calling," and "Sounds Better Than It Sounds," which MacIssac says "might be the best song on the new album" and features Sondre Lerche vocals.

Health is the follow-up to the Blinkers' largely praised 2004 album The Night and I Are Still So Young. Read Jason MacIssac's recording blog at theheavyblinkers.blogspot.com.
