Arcade Fire and Bowie 'Wake Up' Together

Montreal it-band the Arcade Fire's appearance at Fashion Rocks in New York's Radio City Music Hall on September 8th was made public some time ago. Others on the bill for the show include the likes of Duran Duran, Destiny's Child, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, and one Mr. David Bowie.

If anyone cares to remember back to the end of last year, the legendary Bowie made it known through his website ( that he thought the Arcade Fire were top drawer. To be exact: "THERE'S NOTHING ELSE TO SAY. 'THE ARCADE FIRE' HAVE THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR.÷ Quite the most beautiful, moving and passionate piece of brilliant song-writing and quirky performance I've heard in YONKS !!!"

The gushing continued on pretty much like that for a while. But what comes out of all this gushing (mutual, surely) is that at this year's Fashion Rocks, the Arcade Fire and David Bowie will take to the stage together. The two top acts will be making a duet out of the Fire's "Wake Up" (a song for which U2 has a strong liking as well). Bowie will also perform his classic tune "Five Years."
