Ear to the Ground Fest Finds Its Feet

Published: 2005-08-29
"Challenging the mainstream" for the very first time this year, Toronto's Ear to the Ground Fest is scheduled to run from September 16th to 18th at Exhibition Place. Featuring musical acts like Sleater-Kinney and Masia One, Ear to the Ground also holds indie film, art, theatre, dance, and spoken word artists up to the spotlight.

Avoiding commercialism and high costs, Ear to the Ground is a non-profit organization with advance tickets for the entire weekend running at just $50 a pop (one-day passes for Friday are $20, and Sat/Sun are $25). Tickets are available online or at Soundscapes, Rotate This, and Pages Books.

Although it's only in its first year, Ear to the Ground already has all the indie kids excited, bringing some of the best Canadian and international underground artists out of the woodwork. In addition to the acts mentioned above, everyone from A Northern Chorus to Jill Barber to Death From Above 1979 to Wintersleep is taking part.
