In another sign that the head-bangin' metal you secretly loved during your (admit it) extremely awkward adolescence will never, ever leave you, Judas Priest and Anthrax have announced a fall North American tour. Including a heapin' handful of Canuck dates, the tour will find the bands marauding around the continent in late September and well into October.
The two bands have a lot in common. Both were massive in the 80's, both feature recently reunited original lineups and both of those lineups were completed by the return of a long departed lead singer. Priest welcomed legendary lungsman Rob Halford back into the fold for March's Angel Of Retribution for the first time since his 1990 resignation. Halford's arrival signaled the demise of the heretofore incredibly fortunate "Ripper" Owens, who had been discovered while singing in a Judas Priest cover band and who later inspired the incredibly unfortunate Mark Wahlberg vehicle, Rock Star.
Anthrax, meanwhile, have brought back Joey Belladonna to rock the mike after a decade-long absence. The band, which also features Frankie Bello, Scott Ian, Charlie Benante and Danny Spitz, will simultaneously release a CD and DVD on September 20, entitled Alive 2. The DVD will feature behind-the-scenes footage of the band's rehearsals and meetings leading up to their live reunion earlier this year.
Priest/'Thrax Canadian tour dates are:
October 12, Montreal, QC - Bell Centre
October 14, Ottawa, ON - Corel Centre
October 15, London, ON - John Labatt Centre

October 21, Calgary, AB - Pengrowth Saddledome
October 23, Vancouver, BC - Pacific Coliseum
October 24, Vernon, BC (!) - Vernon Multiplex
