Liz Phair Is Coming to Town, Lock Up Your Sons

Published: 2005-08-22
Singer-songwriter and sometime X-rated lyricist Liz Phair will celebrate the release of her new Somebody's Miracle album with a full North American tour in October and November. Currently on a solo acoustic jaunt throughout the US, Phair will bring a full band with her for the fall tour and will hit three Canadian cities along the way. No prizes for guessing which three.

Somebody's Miracle follows a largely unsuccessful experiment with radio-ready pop on Phair's 2003 self-titled album. The record, which included songs written with Avril Lavigne songwriting team the Matrix, ultimately garnered Phair an extremely rare 0.0/10 review from the Pitchfork Media website.

This time around Phair, who once said "my best songs have profanity in them," has written all 14 songs herself, though there are apparently a few airbrushed mainstream rockers on board. According to Billboard, "Several tracks÷should bring a smile to the face of devotees of her 1993 Matador debut, Exile in Guyville and its 1994 follow-up, Whip-Smart."

The CD will be released on October 4th with the tour set to start a couple of days later. Fans can hear the first single from Somebody's Miracle, entitled "Everything to Me," online at

Liz Phair's Canadian tour dates look like this:

October 22, Montreal, QC - Caf» Campus
October 23, Toronto, ON - Phoenix
November 11, Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
