Eminem Cancels European Tour Because Of Exhaustion, Angers UK Nobility

Published: 2005-08-18
Eminem has cancelled his upcoming 10-date European tour, blaming exhaustion and other undisclosed medical concerns. The Shady one had just finished his North American Anger Management tour with 50 Cent and Lil' Jon and was scheduled to begin the Euro leg in Hamburg, Germany on September 1.

"Eminem is currently being treated for exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues. The shows are not expected to be rescheduled," said his publicist Dennis Dennehy in a statement.

One of the cancelled European concerts was to take place at Ireland's famed Slane Castle, with an anticipated audience of 80,000 now seeking refunds. The owner of the Slane Castle estate is one Lord Henry Mountcharles, who is now seriously miffed that Eminem won't be dropping in.

"I don't think the Rolling Stones or U2 would cancel a section owing to nervous exhaustion", said Mountcharles in an interview with the UK's Guardian newspaper. "I'm very taken aback. I'm trying to be judicious with my words ... I don't deem that I've had a proper explanation. I was looking forward to the show myself. I think he is a stunning artist but I don't think he'll get a slot in Slane again."

Who knew Eminem had a fan in the House of Lords? Or÷used to, anyway.

The 32-year old rapper recently denied that he was planning to retire, stating instead that he planned to take some time off to produce other artists. The cancelled European dates will not be rescheduled.

i am a huge eminem fan and bought tickets for me and a friend a while back. i am really disappointed to find that the tour has been cancelled! although the thing that has really been bad is i was not informed and only discovered the tour was canclled when i heard it on the radio. i will be refunded for my tickets but what about the travel i had already booked?! but i guess everyone needs a break i still think his a fantastic artist and just hope to see him perform in the future.
