Radiohead, Gorillaz recording for War Child

Published: 2005-08-10
Radiohead, Elbow and Gorillaz are just some of names contributing to a new album in support of War Child.

The new album is entitled Help: A Day in the life and marks the 10th anniversary of Help, released in 1995.

This latest project will combine some of England's best bands and give them one day to record new music, which War Child will subsequently release via www.warchildmusic.com on September 9. CD release to follow in a few weeks.

Also confirmed for the album are the Zutons, Manic Street Preachers, Bloc Party, Hard-Fi, The Coral, Razorlight and Maximo Park.

War Child's president Mark Waddington knows the impact the original album had back then. It is his intention that this new album will match up to the feats of 1995. They have set the challenge of making the fastest album, ever! The support of featured artists here on this new venture will help a new generation of children affected by war.

War Child launched in 1993, in response to the Balkans conflict on children. In 1995, 20 UK bands and artists across Europe each produced a track for Help. It was the fastest-ever number one album in British music history.
