New Great Big Sea Record in October

Published: 2005-08-10
There's no better band to stir up a great old time than Newfoundland's Great Big Sea, and they'll be back with a fresh batch of toe-tappers this fall. The Hard and the Easy will be the band's eighth studio album in its thirteen-year recording career.

Look for the follow-up to Something Beautiful* on shelves across the country beginning October 11th. Speaking with earlier this year, Great Big Sea front man Alan Doyle revealed that The Hard and the Easy will take the band's upbeat music back to basics, with the album composed of all traditional Newfoundland songs.

At the moment there's no official word on tour plans to promote the new record, but Great Big Sea has a handful of dates scheduled for August. Most are happening in the United States, with one of their Ontario dates at a folk festival and the other a sold-out closed show.

It's about time they went back to what made them who they are, they'd do well to stay away from that pop music, it isn't who they are. Looking forward to this album, should be awesome!

They do all kinds of music very well, not only traditional music. They made themselves who they are and they did it with traditional AND pop AND rock.
